Work done:
A big, blue dumpster was delivered promptly at 8am. The driver/operator was careful to not knock down tree branches. So far the driveway has survived.
Laura Huff, our designer, came at 9am to show us the new drawings of the "openings" -- interior doorways.

We showed Laura the flooring samples. |
We showed Laura the flooring samples already retrieved from Floor & Decor and asked for her guidance as we had an appointment with an interior designer there the next day. Laura got out the tracing paper so that we could temporarily draw ideas about how to segment the space. Laura's suggested principles:
- We have three spaces - back entryway, kitchen and dining room
- Use two materials/colors, not three.
- Bring gold and gray hues from the hardwood into the tile chosen for kitchen and dining room.
We decided that porcelain tile throughout, two different colors, would make the most sense. We would go with a "slate-like" tiles for the mudroom, to complement the slate we have in front of the fireplace and in our front-door landing. We would look the next day (May 12) at Floor & Decor for a suitable tile for the entire kitchen and dining room surface.

Tracing paper on floor plans helped decide flooring for our three spaces. |
JCJ contractor crew got the floor joists in. Below are the photos of how it looked at the end of the day.

JCJ intentionally left access to the BR crawlspace open for us. |
