Visit to our Amish cabinetmaker near Clare, MI

We learned about Ervin Byler from our friend, Jenn Green. Ervin is the founder, (it seems) of Meadowview Kitchen in Farwell, MI (near Clare, MI). Since he is Amish, we would call and leave a message on a voicemail, and a day or two later he would call back. We had sent him our list of cabinets, and several weeks later he sent us back a quote. It looks like the quote was typed with a typewriter on a printed form! We liked the quote, so we planned on visiting on April 10. As fate would have it, that is when we landed in official COVID isolation (we had tested positive on either Apr. 6 or Apr. 11). So we had to postpone it until April 24. Dumstper #2 arrives; Shingles delivered; plumber visit; rough framing; facia

Shingle delivery from Wimsatt Work done today: Dumpster #2 arrived; dumpster #1 is full and is hauled away. Shingle delivery Mike Cole visits with plumber JCJ 4-person crew (Jeremy, Rusty, Brandon & Anthony) finish interior work on back entryway and frame the doors and windows on the dining room exterior wall. Install the facia at the roof edge in preparation for shingle work. Filled dumpster being lifted onto the truck. While Mike was touring the plumber through the house, the Wimsatt truck showed up with the shingle delivery. Shingles delivered to the roof. Long reach for shingles over the dumpster. 2:00pm Framing the windows and doors on the back wall. Note the new, white facia trim around the perimeter of the roof.

Professional Demolition: DR floor excavated

7:30am, Monday, May 3 - Rod Porter's crew showed up and got to work with jack hammers! After a few minutes they had stopped to curse the fact that the cement floor was 8" thick and laced with LOTS of rebar. This job was going to be even harder than expected.
